Daniel Hooper

Daniel Hooper, originally from Winchester, studied at the Westgate School before beginning a career in carpentry, which led him to travel extensively across Europe. This hands-on background continues to inform his artistic practice, particularly his early use of reclaimed wood and surplus materials, from which his distinctive painting style emerged.

Inspired by elemental forces of nature, Hooper’s work focuses on movement, environment and organic forms, often exploring botanical themes and reflections on water. His paintings move instinctively between realism and abstraction, reflecting the untamed energy of the natural world. Although he now works primarily on canvas, Hooper continues to employ construction-inspired techniques, building his compositions in structured blocks and layered surfaces to create depth and vitality.

Hooper was quickly recognised early in his career, becoming a featured Saatchi artist. His work has since been widely exhibited, with multiple sell-out shows in Winchester and London, and he is a regular presence at leading UK and US art fairs.
