Kevin McNamara

Kevin McNamara is an Irish painter based in Ireland, originally raised in Dublin. He studied Fine Art Painting and History of Art at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. Working primarily in oils, McNamara builds richly textured surfaces through layered paint, applying traditional techniques to achieve depth and tactile richness in his work.

Influenced by Impressionism and Modernism, he frequently works outdoors, responding instinctively and spontaneously to the landscapes of rural Ireland and beyond. His work spans a wide range of subjects, from atmospheric Irish landscapes and coastal scenes to figures and equine themes, all driven by a deep concern for capturing light, colour and mood in the moment.

Earlier in his career, McNamara worked as a professional background artist in the animation and film industry, including for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Don Bluth Studios in Dublin, as well as the Peerless Camera Company in London, contributing to films such as Thumbelina, A Troll in Central Park and All Dogs Go to Heaven II.

His work has been exhibited across Europe and the US in both solo and group shows, including a one‑man museum exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Florida, and exhibitions with the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. McNamara’s paintings are internationally collected and continue to be valued for their emotive, colour-rich interpretation of landscape and everyday life.
