She often uses family members for her photography models, including her children, with whom she explores the bond between artist and subject. The number of her figures vary from piece to piece, but show an undeniable connection in their roles as characters which explore a deeper meaning than is assumed upon first glance.

Statement:

The space I create within a square frame is a mirror; a reflection on reality. The human condition fascinates me; I observe, absorb and create pieces filled to the brim with symbolism.  But no matter how dark I am led, there is always an element of hope in my work. Hope is light and it is always there - if you take the time to look for it. This exploration of feelings and emotions is intended to resonate with the viewer, building a connection to the pieces; demanding contemplation. I want you to think.

To begin, I pre-visualise and sketch out each piece. My children very often model for me and that is important, our natural bond means they understand me and I them. For me, the camera and computer are simply tools I use as part of the journey from concept to finished print.

My creative process involves capturing all the required elements, overlaying them with multiple textures for an ethereal feel. I experiment and explore tones, sharpness and light so that you are drawn immediately into the frame and to the subject.

I love strong narratives and long to connect with the viewer through the exploration of what makes us human - ultimately guiding the viewer to the intrinsic message in all my work; the message of hope.

I want my imagery to blur the lines between photography and other artistic mediums - begging the question of if the tools really matter, when, as an artist, my ultimate aim is to deliver a message.
