We are delighted to invite you along to the opening of Mudheads, Horses and Irish Terrain - a new solo show by Kevin McNamara.
He says's of this collection:
“Everything I see in nature is exploding with colour, especially on a bright sunny morning or in the evening. The light goes so quickly and the colours change in the blink of an eye. I work to capture a moment in time as the colour shapes flow in and out of one another. It’s never the exact same colour at any given time. I really have to search to find the most truthful colour relationships. I’ve come to rely on my memory and return with optimism that it will be just as beautiful tomorrow.
This collection is significant in its broad tapestry and size but most importantly, it reflects a body of work deeply immersed in an emotional and literal response to colour relationships presented by life and the atmosphere in rural Ireland."
The opening is Thursday the 22nd of May.
Opening is from 6.30-8pm.
The exhibition will be on for a couple of weeks after and runs until the 9th June.
We are delighted to present to you 'Hardly Normal' a new solo show by Paul Doran.
The exhibition opens on Thursday the 19th June.
Paul say's of this collection of work:
"What does it mean to be normal? Who decides where the lines are drawn.
Hardly Normal explores societal standards, commonplace perceptions and the existential struggles of our lives. Normal is not fixed but a shifting perspective based on socio-historical constructs of acceptability.
Growing up in Belfast, a city marked by history, division, and resilience, has deeply influenced this body of work. The tension between tradition and change, belonging and alienation, is woven into each piece. Navigating a landscape shaped by conflict and transformation fosters a special perspective on society and the harsh realities faced by many.
With wars reshaping nations, increasing economic disparity and global polarisation these works conside what President Higgins describes as our shared vulnerability.
Deeply personal yet universally resonant, this collection attempts to amplify unheard voices, encourage dialogue, and challenge complacency. It is a testament to resilience and a reflection on injustice. Hardly Normal confronts discomfort, embraces awareness, and dismantles the limitations of normalcy, making space for discussion."
