Hardly Normal-Paul Doran

We are delighted to present to you 'Hardly Normal' a new solo show by Paul Doran.

The exhibition opens on Thursday the 19th June.

Paul say's of this collection of work:

"What does it mean to be normal? Who decides where the lines are drawn.

Hardly Normal explores societal standards, commonplace perceptions and the existential struggles of our lives. Normal is not fixed but a shifting perspective based on socio-historical constructs of acceptability.

Growing up in Belfast, a city marked by history, division, and resilience, has deeply influenced this body of work. The tension between tradition and change, belonging and alienation, is woven into each piece. Navigating a landscape shaped by conflict and transformation fosters a special perspective on society and the harsh realities faced by many.

With wars reshaping nations, increasing economic disparity and global polarisation these works conside what President Higgins describes as our shared vulnerability.

Deeply personal yet universally resonant, this collection attempts to amplify unheard voices, encourage dialogue, and challenge complacency. It is a testament to resilience and a reflection on injustice. Hardly Normal confronts discomfort, embraces awareness, and dismantles the limitations of normalcy, making space for discussion."
