We are delighted to invite you along to 'Gaze' a new solo exhibition by Kevin McAleenan.
We have been exhibiting Kevin's work for over 15 years and this is his first ever solo exhibition in the gallery.
He say's of this series of work:
"For the most part it begins when I have to stop. There’s a need to remain, to linger and to just gaze. Initially I respond with sketches and photographs and in the studio with paint.
What makes me stop? I’m never quite sure, perhaps the answer is arrived at as a painting slowly reveals itself.
Working in the semi abstract allows for a varied response to any given subject matter. There are moments of focus and hold, then the eye drifts through the colour field, constantly engaged, nothing is ever fully revealed. There is always more to explore, more reasons to just stop and gaze.”
