Sean Nós, literally 'old style' depicts a unique performer with a unique expression, usually associated with traditional singing. However, this exhibition will showcase unique expression from some of Ireland finest painters and sculptors. Sean Nós will highlight work from both John Behan and Eamon O'Doherty. It will also feature Liam O'Neill, a master of texture and colour from Dingle, fresh from the sell out edition of his limited edition book of paintings from the Corca Dhuibhne. Sean Nós will also see the re-emergence of one of Ireland’s greatest living Northern painters, Brian Vallely. Not since the Noughties in one of the final shows put on by the late Gerald Davis, of the Davis Gallery in Capel St , has Brian Vallely shown in Dublin.
This landmark show is all the more significant as Brian turns seventy this year and now during his sixth decade as an artist he has surely lived up to an early Irish Times billing of 1968 as "One of Ireland's most exciting Irish Painters". Live Traditional music will be played throughout the day and with new Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan set to open the show at 6pm, a great day and evening is expected.
