Swedish-born artist Petra Berntsson’s CHAIRS exhibition is a dwelling on beauty, presented in peaceful, almost heavenly images. Yet she is not portraying some dreamlike idyll, rather her chairs reproduce a reality which is being experienced by the artist and can thus be regarded as an ongoing visual journal, allowing us a glimpse into the dimension of time. Using chairs as her canvases, Petra has created an unusual show exploring the memory of materials, seeing things as gleaming shards carved out of eternity. Her chairs allow us to feel both alone and relaxed - they open our whole hearts to contemplation and solitude. The exhibition will be opened by the poet Dave Lordan on Friday the 29th of October at 7pm. All welcome!
